Rome - Day 3

Saturday, September 01, 2012

Started the morning with the visit to the Rome's greatest marvel - the magnificent Colosseum. We paid for the admission and it's super worth it to sweat under the blazing sun to glimpse the home to gladiators.

Information panels are installed around the Colosseum to help visitors understand more about the area or a feature.

Museum and history fanatic making purchase

Just outside the Coliseum is the Arch of Constantine (Arco di Costantino), a 25m high monument built in AD315 to mark the victory of Constantine over Maxentius at Pons Milvius.

Bye to the the greatest works of Roman architecture and engineering!

Almost every part of Rome looks iconic..while making our way to the next destination...

Ruins of the Roman Forum

Roman Forum is a rectangular plaza surrounded by the ruins of several important ancient government buildings at the centre of the city Rome.

We were heading to Lux In Arcana - For the first time and possibly the only time, the original documents preserved for 400years (everyone says wow!!) from the Vatican Secret Archives will be displayed at the Capitoline Museums in Rome. Look at the effort we took to see these treasures!

Clueless about the hand and foot art pieces

Unfortunately, we couldn't take pictures of the "secrets". After exploring one or two levels, doing some reading and getting excited over Medusa (face of a hideous human female with living venomous snakes in place of hair), my eyes started to get droopy with the dim lights. We decided to take a breather when we spotted an exit way and were able to put our butts down . And guess what, besides Allan and Joanna who were the history buff couple, the rest of us who do not seem to have any artsy streaks had already found this exit way and ":rested" or joined us shortly! Really an epic moment! We were chatting there and at one point, the decibels we produced may be deemed as above the "regulated" sound level spoiling the artsy mood. We were reminiscing of the shopping moments! Sign! Guess Allan should have known better than to hang out with commoners like us! LOL!

We ended our last night back at Piazza Navona, enjoying the romantic and artsy air around us, gorging on Pizzas and Pastas and telling myself  that I am gonna swear for pizzas for awhile! For that moment, I forgotten I have three monkeys at home who are crazy about pizzas! And the week that we were back, kids needed us to satisfy their pizzas cravings! Life's always not as you planned when you have kids.

Hello! And thanks for visiting my blog!

With God's love, we have been blessed with three wonderful kiddos. I hope to jot down as many events and details as we journey along this life. One day, when the kids grow up, they have this space to refer to bring back many fond memories and laughter.

With love!
